Sustainable Sophistication: Hereford 100% Wool
The Hereford collection is split into two complementary textures sharing an identical high-end palette: the clean, geometric lines of the standard Loop and the slightly more rugged, textured dimples of the Hobnail weave. Boasting a comfortable 7.5mm total thickness and a tight 5mm pile height, this range offers the distinctive, springy structural bounce that only genuine natural wool can provide.
When people say, "They don't make them like they used to!" when referring to throwaway culture and disposable items produced cheaply to be replaced, they weren't talking about the Hereford 100% Wool carpet.
Weighed at a solid 950g/m² and anchored onto an ultra-stable, heavy-duty Action Backing, the pure wool fibres are woven into a tight 5/32" gauge. This design keeps the surface resilient, beautifully neat, and resistant to tracking.
Not to mention, it's NATURAL! If you're environmentally conscious, this carpet is one of the best choices, and perfectly paired with our Springbond Underlay, which is made of 80% recycled materials and is 100% recyclable.
Why Genuine Hereford Wool is a Smarter Choice
-
100% Pure Renewable Fiber: Unlike synthetic alternatives, Hereford is woven entirely from real wool. This means it is naturally flame-retardant (Bfl-s1 / Cfl-s1 certified), highly soil-resistant, and completely eco-friendly.
-
Natural Thermal Performance: With an efficient 1.13 TOG rating, wool breathes naturally. It traps warmth during the winter months while working harmoniously alongside modern underfloor heating systems.
-
Quiet and Calming Acoustic Cushioning: Delivering a reassuring 19dB impact noise reduction, it heavily absorbs the clatter of busy footsteps, making it ideal for peaceful upper floors.
-
Stair Suitability: Thanks to its high structural tuft density ($91,500\text{ per m}^2$), both the Loop and Hobnail variants wrap cleanly around stair treads without showing any unsightly backing fabric.

Expert Guidance: Placement & Care
-
Where to Fit: Carrying a Class 22 General Domestic rating, Hereford is tailored perfectly for the primary comfort zones of your home. It makes an incredibly sophisticated statement across a continuous Hall, Stairs, and Landing, and adds quiet, cozy refinement to Lounges, Dining Rooms, and Bedrooms.
-
Essential Wool Maintenance: To keep the natural wool loops looking sharp and tight, always use a suction-only vacuum cleaner. Never use an upright vacuum with a spinning beater bar on a loop pile carpet, as this can agitate and fuzz the natural fibers over time.
- As a loop pile, we don't recommend this carpet for those with clawing furry friends, as they can hook a loop and pull, causing damage to the carpet. Keep your furbaby's claws trimmed and give them alternative scratching posts however and we're sure they'll love rolling on the carpet for belly-rubs just as much as you.
The Verdict: Authentic Country Style
Hereford 100% Wool by Lifestyle Floors provides the perfect balance of organic style, natural resilience, and accessible everyday luxury. Whether you pick the classic Loop format for a clean modern finish or the dimpled Hobnail texture for a rustic look, there's nothing quite like pure wool carpets as the lavish final touch, culminating in a magnificent stylish, comfortable and jealousy-inducing luxury home.

Weave Type
Loop Pile Carpet
Loop pile carpets are made of tightly woven, densely packed fibers that are more durable than cut pile carpets.
They can withstand heavy foot traffic and are often used in commercial or rental properties and high-traffic areas such as hallways or living rooms due to the constant walking in and out and those often used pathways and standing points, like that spot in front of your sofa!
A great insulator, they're brilliant at muffling sounds, cutting down on stomps and booms from energetic individuals and keeping your home warm and cosy, cutting down on heating bills.
The looped pile structure of loop pile carpets means that spills sit on top, giving you time to clean them up before they soak into the fibers. Loop pile carpets are easier to clean than cut pile carpets, and regular maintenance can help them look good for longer.

As a natural fibre, it's sustainable and can be often be recycled, saving your carpet from ending up in landfill.
Backing Type
Action Backing
Action, or hessian backing as it is also known, is a sturdy choice. Unlike felt, action backed carpets are recommended to be used with underlay to give a softer, more comfortable feeling underfoot.

The long lifespan makes them a great value choice as you'll see more milage for your money and with regular care, will be enjoying your carpet for years to come.
Carpets with Hessian backing are great at dampening sound, making them a great choice for active family homes and offices.

Easy Installation Perk:
Action backed carpets are very easy to handle during installation, making them a great choice for home owners to work with and put down themselves, without the need for professional installation costs.
