Why buy new gripper?

We recommend purchasing new gripper every time you replace your carpet. Why do that? We hear you, it's an additional expense and nobody wants those. The reason we say this is purely because your gripper doesn't last forever. It can crush, losing you hooks, which can blunt over time. Gripper strips are made to dig in and hold your carpet, keeping it steady day to day. What you don't want is your beautiful new carpet not correctly secured and when you move either yourselves or furniture around the room. Even worse than that is the carpet ripping or tearing at the edges due to it not being fixed properly. It's not commonplace, however we just don't consider it a risk worth taking. 

Options & making the right choice

Easily cut to length to adapt to your space, we always recommend purchasing more strips than you think you need, to ensure that you don't end up with any gaps and can easily fit it around challenging spaces and trim to fit. 

The Wood Gripper is designed to fit easily into wood type flooring, thanks to it's specially designed nails in the underside, fitted to ensure a solid adhesion to wood without causing tearing or damage to the fibrous wood, be it traditional floorboards, chip, particle, mdf or other type of wooden floor.

Please note, wood grips cannot fix into concrete floors, the nails will simply bend or break and not give a solid connection for your carpet to secure to your floor, so please make sure that you're prepared with the correct type of gripper for your installation.

Likewise, concrete gripper could damage wood floors due to it's different style of fitting that's designed for solid flooring. We recommend fitting the correct item for your use.

We have both Concrete Gripper designed to fit into hard floors and universal Dual Purpose Gripper that is designed with specialist fittings to work with both concrete and wood floors, a great option when upstyling multiple rooms with varied floor types. 

Remember to wear tough gloves when you're handling grippers, the hooks are sharp!

Don't think you'll need 100 lengths? We offer the Wood Gripper in boxes of 10 too, for smaller installations. We recommend ensuring you have at least 5 more strips than you think you need, to allow for cutting and shaping to fit your space.
